Over the last decade, ISE (Integrated Systems Europe) has grown from its roots in the AV business to become the go-to European market for all the latest cutting-edge ideas in multi-media presentation industries – from display screens, innovative sound and lighting, interactive learning to living theatres. The 3-day annual show, at Amsterdam’s iconic RAI centre, now attracts over 50,000 visitors.
ISE already featured ‘The Daily,' its own newspaper for delegates, but this year they determined to rollout this service into daily 25-minute TV news show featuring emerging trends, key new products, Industry events and personalities at ISE.
Fin were commissioned to devise, produce, present, crew and deliver all 3 full news shows to air daily throughout ISE and to appear on huge screens throughout the 10-hall venue, and on a bespoke YouTube channel for attendees.
Approach
The single key challenge for Fin was planning how to deliver to air 25 minutes of compellingly filmed, narrated and edited content – all captured ‘as live’ from that day’s show - each night.
In response, Fin exec Tim Graham gathered together a 9-strong, all-star location team of specialist colleagues: Anchor Liz George, technical producer and technology correspondent Lee Mallinder and an integrated 2-edit/4-camera crew from Fin and our partners Silvercut. Graham and Fin scheduler Marion Stone pioneered a detailed hour-by-hour workflow plan to action with this team on-site via daily early morning production briefings.
In Production
Creative director Darian Weir pre-prepared a GFX kit of parts to take to Amsterdam including stings, titles, and even a virtual studio for Liz.
Four Canon cameras – led by 1st AD Josh White - were employed to shoot five items a day around the show. While, in our improvised newsroom above RAI, two Avid Media Composer editors combined to sculpt each into news stories, while Stone took on the vital assembly role.
Meanwhile, George and Graham scripted links and voice-overs, then led nightly client sign-off sessions before Mallinder supervised multi-stream delivery. All Systems go at ISE!
